Welcome Home

Here at FOP Church, WE LOVE TO GIVE! One of the ways we love to give is by volunteering our time and talents in various ministries in the church. In this two-week course called FOP Connect, we learn about you and your passions, and share with you our history and vision for the future. When you finish both parts of FOP Connect, you're equipped with an FOP T-shirt and the tools and information to connect with our ministry leaders so that you can jump right in and begin serving! Here's what you need to know about FOP Connect.
FOP Connect is a great way to get to know other people in our church family, learn about our core values and beliefs, and get connected with ministries in our church. This is how WE LOVE TO GIVE, and we can't wait to meet you and learn all about your giftings!

FOP Connect

Ready to take your next step?
FOP Connect happens on the first Sunday of every month from 9:30–10:30 a.m.
This class is all about discovering who we are as a church—our vision, mission, and heart for the future. You’ll also learn how to get connected into the life of FOP Church and how to use tools like Planning Center and our church app to stay involved.

Serve Class

Ready to take your next step?
Our SERVE Class takes place on the third Sunday of each month from 9:30–10:30 a.m. In this class, you’ll discover your unique gifts and passions, learn what it means to serve with excellence, and find out where you can make a difference across our church.

All sessions are held in the chapel, with snacks and coffee provided—because connecting is always better with a good cup of coffee! ☕

SERVE

Outreach and servanthood is part of our identity as a church family at Fellowship of Praise Church. There are multiple ways to plug in and serve both inside and outside our church walls. After going through FOP Connect, it is our goal to help each member of our church family get connected to a ministry where their gifts and talents can be used and grown. Below is a list of active ministry areas within our church.
To get involved in any of these areas, fill out an Info Form, indicate which areas you are most interested in getting connected with, and a leader from that ministry will reach out to you with next steps and training opportunities!

Sugartree Ministries 

Your Father’s Kitchen is a soup kitchen for those in need in the Wilmington area.
Led by Holly Young, Fellowship of Praise serves monthly on the following dates at 5:30pm: 

  • 2nd Tuesday
  • FOP Youth on the 4th Friday
  • 5th Thursday

Nursing Home Ministries 

This ministry meets monthly or weekly to bring the love of Christ to the residents at the following nursing facilities:

Benevolence 

Led by Bev Nunley, this team serves those who are mourning by providing a meal during their time of loss for funerals and services. This team is also called upon to help provide food for various church events and needs. When someone has a surgery, unexpected family emergency, or the birth of a child, this team also helps to provide some meals as well.

Altar Team

Our vetted and trained Altar Team wear red lanyards each Sunday and are available to pray in the altar before, during or after service. This team is led by Dina Boitnott and they are here to pray with the congregation and help others grow spiritually each week.

Greeter Team

This friendly team, led by Amy & Bart Fee loves people and makes them feel at home at Fellowship of Praise. This team welcomes guests in our lobby before each service with a smile and an encouraging "hello"!


Usher + Security Team 

Led by Lisa Bergman and Tom Bloomberg, these men and women prepare people for a positive worship experience by assisting them to a seat, facilitating the offering and maintaining a distraction-free environment. They are also trained on church safety to insure a secure environment for all congregants. 

Welcome Center Team

Our Welcome Center Team is led by Dana Wickersham. Those on this team greet first-time guests with a special gift and answer any questions they might have. This team of friendly, outgoing individuals helps connect people with other people! Also, any individual that's gone through FOP Connect can get their free T-shirt at the Welcome Center upon completion of the course.

Media Team

This team uses their skills with sound, production and lighting to help create an environment on Sunday mornings where people can experience the love of Christ. This team helps makes the Gospel available to others online through video and podcasts. They run the projectors to display lyrics and scripture throughout the service. Including camera operators, production directors and video switchers, this team handles all in-house recording of the sermon for online distribution. International Missions

We support the following international missionaries in prayer, raised funds, donated items, and missions trips. Look out for more information about upcoming missions trips on our announcements and our Facebook page:

Do you love cool merch and t-shirts?! This team designs and promotes FOP Church merchandise, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and other items with FOP Church branding. If you have an eye for design, we'd love to have you on this team! Connect with Jarren Gale if you're interested in becoming a part of this team.

When you come to FOP Church, we have the coffee hot and ready for you! Led by Bonnie Cochran this team prepares and distributes the coffee every weekend for each service, and helps each and every person coming through the door feel right at home.

This  team  plans and execute several events throughout the year. Led by RaSheena Barnes this team exists to "reach the hurting" through various community and church events.  It is our goal as a team to maintain our culture of serving at FOP Church where WE LOVE TO GIVE!

BAPTISM

Baptism is an outward expression of the inward change that happens when we choose to follow Jesus. It’s a public declaration of your faith and a powerful step of obedience to God’s Word.

When you’re baptized, you’re telling the world:

I have decided to follow Jesus.

My old life is gone.

I am made new in Him.


Why Baptism Matters 

The Bible teaches that baptism is a symbol of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:4). It’s a way to share your story of faith and celebrate the new life God has given you.

When We Baptize 

We celebrate baptisms during special services throughout the year and quarterly —often during our outdoor family services and other church gatherings.
